2 halves equal a whole?

On Saturday, April 3rd, I ran another half marathon. This one was a bit lower profile and it wasn't as exciting and was WAY harder with my legs feeling the fatigue from the half marathon I ran just 2 weeks prior. But I must say that it was the best thing I could have done for my body. I struggled through the race, but I still finished under 2 hours and felt so good afterwards. No soreness in my legs and no joint pain this time.

Best feeling ever
After the race we were given the opportunity to donate our shoes to Give Your Sole, an organization that provides shoes to the local homeless shelters. I was glad to donate, but felt a little separation anxiety. Those shoes were way overdue for a replacement, but they raced all 10 races with me last year and carried me through these two half marathons. Time for a new pair!

Now, the ONLY positive thing about running a race out in flushing, is the chinese food! We feasted on dim-sum afterward and capped it off with a tall glass of bubble tea. Sheer rewards!

Completing this race thoroughly boosted my confidence and really prepared me mentally for the full marathon training I will begin in July. It also inspired me to rethink my purpose in running the full. I hope to join Team World Vision in the full marathon to help raise funds and awareness of the communities in need in Africa. Stay tuned for more info. And speaking of full marathons...yesterday I received my official notification of entry into the ING NYC Marathon, November 7, 2010! 212 days to go!
