Winter in the City

This was a weekend to remember on so many fronts. As I sit here this evening in my pajamas with red wine in hand, husband sitting across from me looking cute as ever and dishwasher running after a delicious dinner I am overjoyed. Must it be Monday again tomorrow?? I suppose weekends like these wouldn't be as grand if they weren't sandwiched between long work weeks.

Saturday kicked off with the race I've been training for! 15 Kilometers came and went, though not without some focus and hard pushing, particularly at miles 3 and 6 where I felt weak and tired. At 27 degrees it was frigid and my legs felt heavy as led at points, but even with all the discomforts, it was glorious to have accomplished a goal. Dan, Lucas and Dorothee came to support me at the finish. I felt encouraged, loved and thrilled to have crossed that line. My legs were shaking at the finish, and that's a great sign that I really pushed to the limit. Last race of the year and I'm looking forward to a relaxing holiday before gearing up and jump starting my marathon year with the midnight Emerald Nuts run on New Year's Eve! 10 races run in 2009. Not bad. Here are some photos from the finish:

After the race we went home to enjoy our household Christmas celebration over breakfast and hot chocolate. Our home felt so warm with food cooking, housemates scurrying and candles aglow...

Then...the blizzard came!

and we seized the moment...

Ahhhh!!! So jealous! It's been pretty and snowy here too but it seems like snow in the city would be so magical :)

Can't wait to see you!
